For one, you cannot run driving directions from one saved point to the other. However, it's missing basic features that are mind-numbing. I'm using this currently for a weekend trip we're planning, it will enable me, as we're driving, to see where we currently are vs any potential points of interest, and naturally I can quickly get directions for a given spot. This does well with letting me create an "overview" of potential points of interest at the PC and then it will "push" to my phone. The closest thing I've found so far is "My Maps" in Google, in that you can create your own map based on Google's map being the "base," showing only point of interests you've saved. If all you are using is the GPS in "turn-by-turn" mode, you don't get that "overall" sense, and the typical 4.3" screen is simply way too small to make out any "overview" detail if it even does overviews to start with.
This is especially an issue when you're in the car on vacation checking out potential spots, in areas where there is no Internet, and most of all when you want a quality "bird's eye overview" of where you are versus where the points of interest are-and not just one, but a good dozen of them at the time. I use it with a USB GPS unit and I always find where I am.

On the other, well, you have to be on the Internet to use them. Microsoft Streets and Trips gets you where you're going quickly, easily, and without all the guesswork. I want to know this, too, because I have been looking for map software that doesn't require an Internet connection. After checking the issue, it seems this is a general Streets & Trips related issue.
